  I was working with reintroduction of hazel grouse. Because of ethical reasons I did not continue at the project. During the first phase none of the captured/released and hand raised birds survived.

Work experience

2012-today Various voyages to Antarctica, South Georgia, Spitsbergen, East Greenland and the Russian Far East with Oceanwide Expeditions, Polar Quest, Albatross Expeditions, Polar Latitudes and Heritage Expeditions as naturalist guide and lecturer and Expedition Leader.
summer 2011 Expedtion-cruises around Spitsbergen and to East Greenland with Oceanwide Expeditions and Polar Quest as Assistent Expedition Leader and Expedition Leader.
2010 Various voyages to Antarctica, South Georgia, Spitsbergen and East Greenland with Oceanwide Expeditions and Polar Quest as naturalist guide and lecturer.
Sep. 2006 -Aug. 2007 I worked freelance on a black grouse project from the Saxon State Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture.
  Our team of 4 freelance workers with different scientific background was analysing the situation of the Saxonian black grouse population. Out of the results we made conservation recommendations. Beside the biological part of the project I build up the grouse bibliography with emphasis on Saxonia and I co-ordinated the work on the manuskript between several groups of scientists.
Summer 2004 -2007 Naturalist guide and lecturer on board various expedition-cruise vessels of Oceanwide Expeditions and Norden Tours at Spitsbergen and on the Northwest coast of Greenland.

  I gained some knowledge in molecular biology and the related laboratory methods. (preparation of plasmid DNA, electrophoresis, sequencing, introduction to software tools: STADEN and ERGO)

  The main tasks of my work included organisation of storing and ships calls, assistance with vessels as well as invoicing.

  During this time I build a bibliographic database on Svalbard reindeer. I worked with all available web-databases and gained an insight into the work in scientific library system.

Spring 1999 Field assistant for an EU-project in Abisko/Sweden
  The project was about influences of climatic change on tundra vegetation. I was co-ordinating the work for our sub-project and was supervising new field assistants.
Summer 1998 Field assistant on a PhD-project of the FSU Jena and Umeå-University in northern Norway
  I assisted the trapping and marking of voles during the summer season.
